Dr. Press graduated from Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut with a bachelor of science degree in molecular biophysics and biochemistry (magna cum laude). Following medical school at Washington University in St. Louis, he completed an internship in Surgery at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, followed by a residency in Diagnostic Imaging at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology in St. Louis. He then pursued further in-depth training in Neuroradiology as a Fellow and Instructor for two additional years at the Mallinckrodt Institute. Thereafter, Dr. Press joined the academic Radiology faculty at UCSD Medical Center in San Diego as a Neuroradiologist and Assistant Chief of CT Imaging. During his tenure on staff at the Mallinckrodt Institute and at UCSD, Dr. Press taught the principles of radiographic diagnosis to medical students, residents in diagnostic radiology, and fellows in training to be neuroradiology specialists. Subsequently, for 11 years Dr. Press moderated and presented the weekly hour-long combined Neuroradiology, Neurology, and Neurosurgery clinical case conference at Kaiser-Permanente. At this conference, the history, physical examination, radiographic findings, differential diagnosis, prognosis, and medical and surgical therapies of common and uncommon neurological disorders were discussed in the care of each patient. The adult and pediatric Neuroimaging protocols in use at Kaiser-Permanente in San Diego were designed and implemented by Dr. Press.
